The Salem Fire Protection District is located at 201 South Broadway. The non-emergency phone number is (618) 548-1800. The SFPD is one of the larger districts in Marion County, encompassing close to 120 square miles, from Hoots Chapel Road on the west to Bannister Road on the east, Alma Hatchery Road on the north to Route 161 on the south. The SFPD is equipped with 10 trucks, a full time staff of 4 plus 38 volunteers. The Department maintains rigorous training programs, has a class Four fire insurance rating an has been used as a model in state publications.
