Salem Township Hospital is a hospital licensed by the Illinois Department of Health. Salem Township Hospital became a Critical Access Hospital May 1, 2005, and currently operates out of 25 beds.
The governing board consists of 6 members, 5 are appointed by the Salem Township Board and one board member is the Chief of the Medical Staff or designee. There are 13 active medical staff who have the following specialties: four Internal Medicine, two Family Practice, one Surgeon, one Pathologist, one Radiologist, one Emergency Department Director, and three Pediatricians. The hospital also has two Nurse Practitioners on staff. There are 39 consulting and courtesy medical staff representing numerous healthcare specialties.
Acute care clinical services within the organization include: Medical Surgical Unit, Special Care Unit, Surgery, Endoscopy, Emergency, Outpatient, Education/Infection Control, Radiology, Sleep Disorders Lab, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Case Management, Laboratory, Cardiac Rehab, Nuclear Medicine, and Respiratory Care, Skilled Care services within the organization include: Swingbed and Home Health.
The hospital also operates a Rural Health Clinic located in the Emergency Room Physicians, Nutritional Services, Pharmacy, Vantage (laser and cataract), Nuclear Medicine, Hospice, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy, Social Services, BioMed, and mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

The Rehabilitation Services Department provides quality evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of patients using modalities, exercise, manual technique and education. Utilizing the knowledge of the staff, the Department's objective is to return patients to prior level of function. The Department is concerned wit treating patients with neuromusculoskeletal disorders pain syndromes, congenital diseases and open wound while maintaining age specific treatment protocol for each patient. The function of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy is to provide treatment and evaluation to outpatients, inpatients and home health patients with physician's orders.

The Physician - in treating patients needs, assist in determination of patient's functional level and consulting in areas of rehab expertise
The Industrial Community - by offering inservices on body mechanics safety and performing treatments to injured employee's.
Salem Township Hospital Rehabilitation Department also provides a Work Conditioning Program for Business and Industries. The Work Conditioning Program focuses on the prevention and reduction of injuries in the work setting, as well as returning the employee to full duty.
The department is staffed Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays as needed.
