The Salem Township Hospital is a 25 bed critical care hospital located in the north corner of William Jennings Bryan Memorial Park.  There are 13 active physicians with specialization in internal medicine, family practice, surgery, pathology, radiology, pediatrics and emergency medicine.  Augmenting these are two Nurse Practitioners and 39 consulting and courtesy medical staff.  Salem Township Hospital Rehabilitation Department also provides a Work Conditioning Program for Business and Industries.  The Work Conditioning Program focuses on the prevention and reduction of injuries in the work setting, as well as returning the employee to full duty.

Doctor's Nursing Home and Twin Willows Nursing Center are both located in Salem as well as two developmentally disabled facilities, Bryan Manor Intermediate Care and Lynwood Estates. Our Senior Citizens enjoy the Bob White Apartments, a supervised residential complex of duplexes, providing a revolutionary source of specialized care for those seeking monitored yet independent living.

Twenty-four hour a day ambulance service is available from Marion County EMS – 775-8147 Salem Area Ambulance – 548-1979, and Air & Medical Services – 775-6801. They are staffed with Intermediates and EMT's.

The Marion County Health Office is located at 118 Cross Creek Boulevard. It provides the services of a county nurse. Salem also has a local public health agency with a visiting nurses program.

Several free services such as blood pressure testing, immunization, home visits for the handicapped, chest x-rays and TB testing are also available.

The Community Resource Center located at 212 West Schwartz offers counseling service in Salem.
