What is acceptable and how to prepare materials for recycling:
Your recycling does not need to be separated.
Paper (newspaper, magazines, office paper):
Dry paper only!
Dump loose or use paper sacks...no plastic bags, please!
NO: paper with crayons or paint, construction paper, plastic or metal spines
Cardboard (examples: corrugated or cereal boxes):
Dry & flattened
Steel Cans (Tin food cans, empty dry paint cans, empty aerosol cans, can lids & labels
Rinse and flatten.
NO: appliances, scrap metal, jar lids
Aluminum (beverage cans, aluminum foil sheets & pans):
Rinse and flatten.
NO: window screens
#1 Plastic (clear plastic bottles labeled #1 with narrow neck):
(example: soda bottles)
Rinse and flatten.
NO: bottle caps
#2 Natural Plastic (#2 HDPE plastic bottles with seam) or #2 colored plastic (#2 HDPE rigid, colored plastic bottles)
(example: milk jugs, bleach bottles, liquid laundry bottle)
Labels okay
Remove caps, rinse and flatten.
NO: cottage cheese or yogurt containers, food trays, plastic bags, food shells, plastics labeled #3-#7
