SALEM TO USE SOCIAL NETWORKING TOOLS
The City of Salem has announced its intent to use e-mail and social networking tools to better inform citizens of events taking place within the community.
Although the City offers a complete website, www.salemil.us, and will continue to offer the site, it will also begin notifying citizens via
e-mail, Facebook and/or Twitter of events such as street oilings, boil orders, waterline breaks, and snow route announcements. Brief notices regarding recreation events or meeting times may also be sent out.
Prior to implementing these practices, the City is soliciting input from the community regarding what social networking tools the citizens would like to see the City use. Do you Twitter? Have a Facebook account? Would you like to receive notices via e-mail? Please send your suggestions to a new City of Salem email address set up specifically for this purpose:
salem-il@ussonet.net. Although the City of Salem will continue to make announcements via newspaper, radio, and its website, the administration looks forward to even better communication with its residents.
