-Keep car doors locked and windows shut even while driving.
-Don't stop to assist a disabled motorist. Instead contact a service station or the police.
-When stopped at a traffic light, leave enough room between you and the car ahead to make an escape.
-Be suspicious of anyone approaching your car with flyers, asking for change, or directions.
-When driving, if struck from behind or in any suspicious way, stay in your car with the doors locked and windows shut until police arrive. Activate your emergency flashers.
-If you are very suspicious get the other vehicle's license number an drive to the nearest police station or well-lit area with lots of people.
-If being followed, drive to an area with people and lights. If possible, drive to the nearest police station. Do not drive home.
-Carry a cell phone or CB radio to call for help.
-Do not pick up hitchhikers.
-Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and has enough gas to get where you are going.
