Landscape Waste Collection
Illinois State law prohibits landscape waste being disposed of in Illinois landfills. Citizens are encouraged to recycle landscape waste, whenever possible; however, the City of Salem will pick up landscape waste for those living south of Route 50 on Tuesdays, and north of Route 50 on Thursdays. (All yard waste must be curbside by 7:30a.m. the day of collection.) Grass clippings, leaves, and small sticks must by placed in city approved biodegradable paper landscape waste bags, which may be purchased at several Salem stores. Branches and tree clippings bundled in up to four-foot bundles, not exceeding fifty (50) pounds in weight, will also be collected. If you have any questions you can contact City Hall at (618) 548-2222.
