Youth FISHING DERBY - 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Salem Reservoir - FREE!
Categories will be 4 thru 7 years; 8 thru 13 years; and, 14 thru 18 years. Prizes will be awarded in each age category. The Southern Illinois All Stars bass fishing club, will oversee the Fishing Derby. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Salem Reservoir pavilion east of the Salem Hospital.
DOLLAR DAY at the Salem Family Aquatic Center - 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Salem City Pool will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Admission will be $1for all patrons. Soft drinks, popcorn, and snowcones may be purchased from the pool concession stand for 50 cents!
WAGON RIDES - 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - FREE!
Take a tour of Salem’s beautiful Bryan Park, while enjoying a ride in a wagon drawn by two beautiful Belgian horses, provided by Mount‘s Enchanted Rides. Check in at Salem Recreation Department canopy for pick-up location.
LUNCH on the CHURCHES - 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
You are invited to enjoy a FREE lunch, compliments of the churches of Salem--Apostolic Church of Salem, Evergreen Christian Church, First Baptist Church, First Christian Church, Salem Assembly of God Church. FREE snacks & activities for the kids.
MEN’S SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT - First game at 9:00 a.m. - Bryan Park ballfield
Come out and watch some EXCITING men’s softball games--church league teams and Salem Recreation Department men’s softball league teams.
TURTLE RACES - 11:30 a.m. on the Bryan Park Basketball Courts - FREE!
Participants are responsible for bringing their own turtle(s) for competition. Limit of 2 turtles per participant. Prizes will be awarded for the smallest turtle, the fastest turtle, and the largest turtle.
KIDS KRAFTS made from RECYCLED MATERIALS - 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Instruction provided by Keep Salem Beautiful. Children will make project(s) from recycled materials.
PET SHOW - 12:30 p.m. on the Bryan Park Basketball Courts - FREE!
Prizes will be awarded for the biggest pet, the smallest pet, the most unusual pet, the best trained pet, the prettiest pet, ugliest pet, and pet that looks most like its owner.
3 POINT BASKETBALL SHOOT - 1:30 p.m. on Bryan Park Basketball Courts - FREE!
Participants will have one minute to shoot as many baskets as possible from the three-point line. Competition will be divided into age categories. Youth 8 years and younger will shoot from a lowered goal.
