School Resource Officer

Salem Police Department has 2 full-time School Resource Officers who cover both public Salem school districts. Their primary duty is to provide security and law enforcement within the schools. Working closely with administration to ensure a safe learning environment and recommendation of building security improvements as needed. 
The School Resource Officer also spends time monitoring and counseling students. They work closely with school counselors to ensure that a student's mental health and well-being are addressed. It may be as simples as listeening to a studen when they have an iss or concern.They also are able to help students with future endeavors. This comes through sharing life experiences as well as what has been encountered in the field of law enforcement.
