Accepting Applications for the Gas Maintenance Department

The City of Salem is accepting applications for the Gas Maintenance Department. Applicants must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent, live within a 15-minute response time of the City of Salem Gas Plant, pass a drug test and physical, possess a valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a CDL if not currently in possession, able to work for long periods of time outside in all weather conditions and pass all EWN gas testing modules and field evaluations within 6 months of hire.

Job duties include but are not limited to locating underground utilities; repair, replace and install gas meters, valves and regulators; operate department equipment; perform utility service connects and disconnects; carry a phone for a rotating on-call schedule.

Applications are available at Salem City Hall, 101 S. Broadway and will be accepted through Friday, April 4. No phone calls.
