April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse Planning Guide

The City of Salem will experience a complete Solar Eclipse in the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2024.  This natural event will bring an influx of visitors to the Salem area, boosting tourism in the local community.  This could be potentially thousands of people.  In order to be prepared, the Illinois Department of Emergency Management (IEMA) is asking event planners to complete an “Eclipse Event Planning Guide.”  Salem Department of Emergency Management Director Andrew Strong encourages local planners to register their events.  Forms are available on the City of Salem’s website or at Salem City Hall.
