Compost / Yard Waste Collection

REMIINDER: Yard waste, collected by the City of Salem, must consist only of grass clippings, leaves, and small sticks must be placed in City approved degradable paper bags. Tree limbs bundled in four-foot bundles, not exceeding fifty (50) pounds in weight, will also be collected.
(Bags are available for purchase at various business and retail establishments in the city.)
City crews have been finding a large amount of trash and unauthorized items mixed within the compost bags. If the problems persists, customers which are in violation will be warned and then penalized. These rules are set in place to ensure that this program can continue running in compliance with the IEPA regulations set upon the City.
